Volunteer Opportunities

GEMS is always looking for passionate, committed volunteers in a variety of areas:

• House Mothers - to supervise transitional living program
• Educators/Presenters - to present on the issue of sexual exploitations to community members
• Group Facilitators - to run weekly workshops on a variety of recreational/artistic and educational topics
• Tutors - to assist members with homework or GED preparation
• Fundraisers - to assist with fundraising activities and special events
• Tech Support - to assist with troubleshooting, networking issues, and web design

Although some direct service volunteer positions have structured hours and time commitments, other opportunties are flexible thereby ensuring that everyone can play a role in supporting GEMS, its mission and its members.  GEMS believes that the fight against sexual exploitation is one that must involve families, faith communities, service professionals and all those who believe that young people deserve to live free from exploitation and violence.

Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower young women, ages 12-21 years, who have experienced sexual exploitation and violence to exit unsafe and abusive lifestyles and to develop their full potential. GEMS’ provides young women with empathetic, consistent support and viable opportunities for positive change.
