Lizzy Shramko

PR and Outreach Assistant 

As PR and Outreach Assistant, Lizzy Shramko is responsible for coordinating public events and readings surrounding the release of Rachel Lloyd’s book, Girls Like Us. Additionally, Lizzy facilitates outreach to media and helps to ensure responsible and accurate coverage of Girls Like Us and GEMS as an organization in media outlets.

Prior to working at GEMS, Lizzy worked at Perseus Books and The New Press. With a background in book publishing, Lizzy is also an avid proponent of social justice and has organized within queer and feminist communities in NYC and Budapest, where she helped to organize feminist actions and participated in LGBT youth leadership forums.

Lizzy holds a Masters degree in Gender Studies with a focus on Queer Theories of the Body from Central European University, and received her Bachelors degree from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU. She is a published writer and continues to read and write theory, actively presenting her thoughts at academic conferences around the country.
