Kalima DeSuze
Youth Outreach Coordinator
Youth Outreach Coordinator Kalima DeSuze is responsible for supervising and guiding the Youth Outreach Team through a supportive, positive approach to building program leadership. Kalima is a social worker with seven years of organizing, direct service practice, and group facilitation.
Kalima has worked with the Voices of Women Organizing Project, the Battered Mother’s Justice Campaign, the Rights of Children Campaign, and the Housing Justice Campaign. Kalima has also served as the community development director at Service Women’s Action Network. She is a six-year veteran of the United States Army, where she served as a Battalion Paralegal Supervisor.
Kalima received her Bachelors of Science from Hood College. Her Masters of Social Work, Community Organizing, Planning, and Development comes from Hunter College’s School of Social Work, and her Masters in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management comes from Baruch College’s School of Public Affairs. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University School of Social Work.
Kalima serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Social Workers, Black Women’s Blueprint, and Service Women’s Action Network, and the Steering Committee of the Undoing Racism Internship Project.
