Brecklyn Walters
Family Court Advocacy Coordinator
As GEMS’ Family Court Advocacy Coordinator, Brecklyn Walters provides defender-based alternative sentencing services and support for girls under the age of 18 who are survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and are involved in family court within the boroughs of New York City on matters related to prostitution, correlating arrests, PINS petitions, and child protective concerns. A liaison between GEMS and the Family Court system, Brecklyn provides case management, supportive counseling, and court advocacy throughout NYC.
Prior to joining GEMS, Brecklyn interned with the Juvenile Justice Project of the Correctional Association and the Boston Worker’s Alliance.
Brecklyn is dedicated to social justice, serving court-involved youth, and is committed to work and projects that center on marginalized communities.
Brecklyn received a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from Hampshire College.
